About Village Squares Waterdown Village Squares was formed in 1969 by a group of enthusiastic square dancers who organized dances for Mainstream and Club (now Plus) levels at the Memorial Hall in Waterdown. Calling was Ron King, who along with his wife Marg, were the cornerstones of the Club. Starting a tradition that continues to this day, the '70's were ushered in on New Year's Eve by a dance at the Hall, which was moved to the present site of St. James United Church in December 1970, when Memorial Hall was no longer available. Also in 1970, Class or Basic was added to the menu under the tutelage of Dave Moss, who was later replaced by Leo Ducharme. In 1976, Jim Lee replaced Ron King and Bill Everett replaced Leo. Jim and Bill continue to call for us. The A-1 level was added in 1981 and continues as the top level dancing taught and called in Waterdown. Members come from many surrounding cities, including Hamilton, Brantford, Guelph, Burlington, Mississauga and other communities in the Golden Horseshoe. Our dances and special events welcome all dancers. Please join us! We are associated with the Toronto and District Square Dance Association. Please check out their Web Site.
